Samsung Unveiled Nine New Products at its Press Conference in London
Samsung showcased nine new products at its press conference in London. The products displayed at the media event are three new Galaxy S4 variant smartphones: Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Zoom, an android-powered mirrorless camera: Galaxy NX, two new Ativ tablets: Ativ Q and Ativ Tab 3, two Ativ notebooks: Ativ Book 9 Plus an Ativ Book 9 Lite and a desktop-style computer: Ativ One 5 Style.
Three new Galaxy S smartphones
The Galaxy S4 Active is a tougher version of the Galaxy S4. It is fully dust and water resistant and able to survive in a meter of water for 30 minutes without sustaining damage. It features a five-inch display, quad-core processor Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.9GHz, 2GB of RAM, 2,600 mAh battery, a TFT 1080p display and an eight megapixel camera.
The Galaxy S4 Mini is a smaller Galaxy S4 with no compromises. It features a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, a 1.7GHz dual core processor, 2GB of RAM and 8MP camera. It will have a low price than Galaxy S4, since it’s only qHD.
The Galaxy S4 Zoom is the world’s first smartphone with a 10x optical zoom lens. The phone will also have an optical image stabilizer to take less shaky shots and performs well in low light performance. And the sensor itself is a backside illuminated 16MP sensor paired with a real xenon flash.
Android-powered mirrorless camera
The Galaxy NX, a new Android-powered mirrorless camera that runs Google’s mobile OS (version 4.2.2 Jelly Bean) and bears LTE radios. It is an interchangeable-lens Compact System Camera, featuring a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor as well as 3G/4G LTE, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The Galaxy NX also packs a large 4.8-inch HD LCD display on its rear and is powered by a 1.6GHz Pega-Q quad-core setup and separate DRIMe IV Signal processor for imaging. It also incorporates a hybrid AF, culled from the best of DSLRs and compacts, with a shutter speed of 1/6, 000th of a second and 8.6fps shooting.
Two new Ativ tablets
Ativ Q: A “four-in-one” convertible tablet that can change between table and laptop forms and runs both Android 4.2.2 and Windows 8 operating system. It features a 13.3-inch, 3,200 by 1,800-pixel resolution display and Intel i5 Haswell processor. It has a hinge design which allows it to change into four different forms: a flat tablet mode, a laptop mode, an angled display or floating display when you flip the display.
The Ativ Tab 3, described as the world’s thinnest tablet is just 8.2-millimeters thick. It singularly powered by Windows 8. It has a 10.1-inch display with a 1,366 by 768 resolution, weighs 550 grams. The tablet uses an Intel Atom processor and has 2GB of memory and 64GB of storage.
Two new Ativ notebooks
The Ativ Book 9 Plus, which is the successor to its Series 9 line of laptops, comes with a 13-inch display with 3,200 x 1,800-pixel resolution. It has up to 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage and is powered by a Haswell processor. Its battery lasts up to 12 hours and boots within seconds. As said by Samsung, the Ativ Book 9 Plus boots up in six seconds and wakes up from sleep mode in one second.
The Ativ Book 9 Lite, the budget-friendlier equivalent of Ativ Book 9 Plus, will also have a 13-inch display. Different from the Plus, the Lite version will have a touch screen as an option. It will use a solid-state drive for storage and a Samsung-specific quad-core processor and will come with a maximum of 4GB of memory and 256GB of storage.
One new Ativ desktop
Finally, the desktop computer unveiled by Samsung is called Ativ One 5 style. And it is an all-in-one computer expected to compete against Apple’s iMac or other fully integrated computers. It has a 21.5-inch touch-screen display with 1,290 x 1,080 resolution, 4GB of memory, up to 1 terabyte of storage and a quad-core AMD processor.
